The remade dresser seat

Standard

For my audition piece on SYTYC , I made a bench seat out of an old dresser. The dresser was a gift from a friend and the seat is now my favorite piece of furniture in the house. I need set in some stronger brackets to stabilize the back but other than that it is completely my taste!

Taking apart the dresser was super fun, but aging the wood was my favorite part. 🙂 Hope you enjoy it.

The rainbow coat

Standard

I love rainbow everything. I also love my little ponies but that is a different story. LB loves rainbow things as well. I wanted o make LB an awesome fall/winter coat based on the Katwise  tutorial. I love Katwise coats and sweaters I even was lucky enough to purchase a sweater tunic from her a few months ago.  First I made LB a coat out of sweater material but she didn’t like it, it was too heavy and too scratchy for her. So I made another coat this time out of fleece. I love it!! When it get cooler out she is going to be rocking it. I love that fleece is lightweight, warm, inexpensive, easy to sew and extremely bright!!! Check it out here:

Yay for rainbows!!!!

LB’s First day of school dress

Standard

Oh Readers, How I have missed you.

Well I am going a bit serger crazy. I love it. It is just so fast and the seams look so good with almost no effort.  So first let me post some pictures of Lb’s first day of school dress (school starts this monday for us!):

This dress was so simple. Total time =4 hours. Total cost=6.00 Thankyou Hobby Lobby for having an awesome fabric sale!!! Also for my bargain seeking friends, Hobby Lobby has a sale going on, every simplicity pattern is 99 cents right now. It’s limited to ten per customer. I picked up 5 yesterday and 10 today. I am so excited, even the halloween ones were on sale. I will have to post my stash later. Halloween is our favorite holiday and a very special time of the year for me. I celebrate Samhain, also we will be involved at the Fall carnival at Lb’s school this year. Now if I could just get LB to pick one costume….

Craftiness

Standard

Hello everyone,

So I am a contestant on this season’s “So you think you’re crafty”, it is pretty awesome and the other crafters on it are seriously amazing. I mean for real go take a look, no go I will wait……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. Dude, I know, right?! Feel free to vote for the one you think is most awesome. In addition to this awesomeness I am all kinds of crafty right now so I will be updating more regularly with some new tutorials.  Nb and LB are fabulous and life is good.

Beautiful new things

The bathroom is on delay. NB gave me an awesome gift awhile back. A singer serger! Unfortunately with all that has gone on I haven’t been able to get tarted on it. However last week I had some free time and I started working with it, wow. It’s amazing, it will make sewing projects go so much faster. I will post some projects shortly.

Trying times

Standard

Man I am stressed. More than stressed, I am at my limit. The bathroom is still a work in progress though we do have a toilet again, woot! We also have an awesome direction for the bathroom. Vacation was really busy and fun. NB, LB, Sammie and I had an awesome time. Sammie was great the entire trip and he loved being included. LB had tons of fun and a few small disappointments due to height restrictions at dollywood. My awesome GLB(goofy little brother) is here staying with us for a few weeks while school is out. He is wonderful with LB and we love having him here. I got to see my mom for a day this past weekend and it was really nice. I wish I could visit with her longer.

Today I smashed my toe up big time. I am talking split the entire end of it open on a 2×4. I haven’t had time for any big projects but I managed three small ones today:

The first picture I made for my bedroom, it has one of my favorite quotes on it. “How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray’r accepted, and each wish resign’d;

– Alexander Pope

The second I made for Lil’s room and she asked for it to have an angry tree on it.

The watermelon I made for a 4th of July get together.

That’s all for now.

Bathroom renovation

Standard

This is my last update until after our vacation. NB is full of awesome and he laid (giggle) the joists. They are awesome. We put a piece of subfloor down so the cats can get to their room while we are gone. I will be putting the rest of the subflooring down and finishing the job next week:
